Thanks for sharing your insights! Reading Lolita in Tehran is excellent. I read it a few years ago and haven't stopped thinking about it.

I'm so glad you enjoyed! I heard a few people say that about Reading Lolita in Tehran, and that's what made me interested in reading it—that's a meaningful testimonial if I've ever heard one, lol

I swear, I need to put up a sign by my desk to remind me that art is not urgent. It's so hard not to slip into that trap!

These are some great insights, and I've also been loving Lady Gaga's new album. A Lady Gaga album in 2025 is what we all deserved!

You know what, I should do the same! Surely a visible reminder won't hurt.

Thanks, Fi <3 I agree, and I'm hoping a venue near me will hold a "Lady Gaga dance party" soon now that there's new material out.

I really needed that reminder about art not being urgent. I’ve internalized so much of the “get it out fast, or it won’t matter” mindset that I forget how many of the books I love were written slowly, with space and distance. It’s oddly reassuring to hear that even essays decades in the making can still land. Also, yes, Gaga’s album is on repeat. Feels like it was made for this exact mood.

YEP. I have to stop myself from thinking that way multiple times a week. There are probably 0 circumstances in which our art is better for having been rushed.
