i love using pomodoro style sessions to help me get started and tell myself to focus for 25-40 mins and then am always surprised how much gets done in that time!
BOOKMARKED omg this is solid gold. "Adding friction" by leaving my phone in another room is definitely a technique I use to stop myself from scrolling instead of writing!
Okay wow as someone who stopped writing to go on substack this morning I think this article was made for me. Youβre so wise! Iβll definitely be using these techniques.
Love what you pointed out about not googling details while youβre writing. As someone with suspected adhd, the simple act of looking up a name for a character can take me down some serious rabbit holes. The same goes for descriptions. I just write (add description) now, especially on early drafts.
Love this! My favourite was a different profile on your computer what a smart idea π‘ π
Itβs helped so much honestly!

Oh my gosh, pomodoro! I always forget that that exists, but itβs worked well for me the couple times Iβve tried it. Thank you for the reminder :)

Iβm so glad you think so!! βΊοΈugh yes Iβve recently started leaving my phone in the kitchen while Iβm in my office and it helps so much!
