I also feel like those who are against AI are so against any kind of open discussion about it. The reality is that people are going to use it. We need to atleast talk openly about how to use it mindfully, and how to engage with it intellectually.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. To be honest, I’m one of those people who resists talking about AI (outside of my job). Part of that is because I’m often sick of thinking about it after work, but another part is that I almost hope to bury it away. But you’re right - people will use it whether we want them to or not, and it’s much smarter long-term to at least help them make an educated usage decision in order to mitigate harm as much as possible.
